First Aid Salve

Description

This is the salve I made because I needed it — and couldn't find anything that actually worked.

Farming hands. Gardening knees. Kitchen burns. Scraped shins and cracked heels and the thousand small indignities that come with a life lived close to the land. The First Aid Salve was born from all of it — a traditional herbal balm built around four botanicals that wisewomen have reached for, generation after generation, for exactly these moments.

Calendula (Calendula officinalis) — known for centuries as one of the great skin-soothing herbs, widely used in traditional herbal practice for its gentle, calming properties. Comfrey root (Symphytum officinale) — long valued in herbal tradition for its deeply nourishing, skin-supportive qualities, and rich in naturally occurring allantoin. Plantain (Plantago major) — the humble weed with a longer history of traditional use than most things on your pharmacy shelf, known for its gentle drawing and cleansing properties. Nettle (Urtica dioica) — mineral-rich and widely recognized for its nourishing, skin-supportive properties.

All four slow-infused in a blend of rice bran and sunflower oils — lightweight, skin-compatible, and free of common allergens. Finished with lavender essential oil, known for its calming and skin-supportive properties, and tea tree essential oil, widely recognized for its cleansing qualities. Set in organic beeswax. Made by hand in small batches on our land in Renton, Washington.

This is not medicine. This is tradition — and the jar that lives in every bag, every pocket, every first aid kit.

How to Use

Apply a small amount to clean skin as needed. For dry patches or areas needing extra attention, apply generously and cover overnight. Safe for face, body, lips, and hands. A little goes a long way.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Best used within 12 months of opening. Use clean, dry hands or a spatula to scoop — keeping water out of the jar preserves shelf life naturally.

Oryza sativa (Rice Bran) Oil and Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) Oil slow-infused with Calendula officinalis (Calendula) Flower, Symphytum officinale (Comfrey) Root, Plantago major (Plantain) Leaf, and Urtica dioica (Nettle) Leaf; Cera alba (Organic Beeswax); Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender) Essential Oil; Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree) Essential Oil.
